Dear ,
Today marked an exciting milestone for the campaign: We dropped off more than 13,000 signatures from New Yorkers to get Dianne on the ballot in June! That means we can keep organizing and know that come June, New Yorkers will be able to rank Dianne our #1 choice on the ballot. Every candidate has to get signatures in order to appear on the ballot — and that didn’t change this year. Even in the middle of a pandemic, the state of New York risked people’s health by requiring reduced in-person signature gathering rather than canceling it altogether.
We know some in the mainstream media have claimed that candidates artificially inflate the amount of signatures they’ve gathered, but we’re here to tell you that every one of those more than 13,000 signatures is a New Yorker who is ready for our city to finally live up to its aspiration to be the greatest in the world.
They are the New Yorkers who found hope in this campaign enough to stop and talk to a stranger on the street and sign their name — in some cases leaving the safety of their home specifically to seek out the purple shirts of our team. It’s humbling and it’s beautiful.
Why does this matter? Because people matter, and they’re showing careless elected officials and chattering naysayers that they find hope in this campaign and that their voices matter, too, whether or not they’re acknowledged.
A huge thank you to our phenomenal Field Captains, who were on the ground every day organizing petitioners, gathering signatures and introducing New Yorkers to Dianne. We reached our goal (and then some!) because of their effort.
And thank you for being in this with us, friend. We will continue to center those communities that are not traditionally welcomed into these spaces, and we will choose the future of New York — together. In solidarity,
Team Dianne If you believe you received this message in error or wish to no longer receive email from us, please unsubscribe. |
