John, this is a
longer email, but it’s an incredibly important one.

Back in 2018, we fought hard to win this district—flipping a seat that
Republicans held for decades. And every day since, I've been proud to use
my position in Congress to fight on behalf of working families and ask
powerful figures tough questions during hearings—no matter if they’re the
CDC Director, the Postmaster General, the HUD Secretary, or a wealthy
pharmaceutical executive.

In 2020, we proved that this campaign wasn’t just a one-off “blue wave”
phenomenon. We continued to strengthen and grow our movement that put
working families first, and because of the support from this community, I
won my first re-election.

I’m honored to be able to stand for the American people and show what it
looks like to fight for the working class during those Congressional
hearings. After videos of those moments ignite on social media, I receive
so many kind messages from people all across the country.

But John, here’s
the hard truth: We know that excitement online does not directly translate
to momentum on the ground.

The reality is that my district is one of the most vulnerable districts a
Democrat could be in. Orange County is still considered a “purple”
political climate. No matter the color or the party lines, I’m still going
to continue calling out the B.S. and advocating for issues that affect all
working families—but the GOP is already mobilizing their supporters to
help flip this seat next year.

The fight didn’t end on Election Day 2020. So right now, it’s essential
for our campaign to fundraise and make long-term investments in organizing
our communities, advertising our message, registering new voters, and
fending off any future challengers for the 2022 race. And we can’t do any
of this without your support.
