GREATER GEORGIA APPLAUDS PASSAGE OF ELECTION REFORM BILL
ATLANTA – Today, the Georgia General Assembly passed and Governor Brian Kemp signed into law Senate Bill 202, which strengthens the integrity of our elections process while also expanding access to voting. Greater Georgia fully supports this legislation and applauds the work of the state legislature and the Governor. Following passage, Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler released the following statement:
"Thanks to the leadership of the Georgia legislature and the Governor, more Georgians will now be able to vote with more confidence for generations to come," said Kelly Loeffler. "2020 saw rapid, inconsistent, and unprecedented changes to our elections that eroded voters’ confidence. With the passage of S.B. 202, we are expanding access to the polls while restoring faith in our elections. Greater Georgia is proud to support this legislation and will continue the important work of increasing integrity, transparency, and uniformity in our elections."
S.B. 202 is a comprehensive bill that strengthens election integrity and expands voting access. Among other things, S.B. 202:
- Requires photo ID to request an absentee ballot
- Prevents fraud by requiring ballots to be printed on security paper
- Creates a voting-fraud hotline
- Bans local boards of elections from receiving outside money.
