Enough is enough, John.

This week, another American community suffered an unspeakable tragedy when a gunman opened fire at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, and murdered ten people.

No one should live in fear of being shot and killed with a weapon of war while buying groceries, going to work or school, attending a religious service, or going about their daily lives -- but this is the reality in the only industrialized country where mass shootings occur on a regular basis.

Congress has the power to act -- and yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee that I Chair held a hearing on proposals to reduce gun violence in America and keep our families and communities safe.

There are constitutional, common sense ways we can reform our gun laws -- starting with universal background checks for gun sales, a policy some 90% of Americans support.

We can also take steps to ban assault weapons and get these weapons of war off our streets.

Let’s take action so that another family isn’t mourning the loss of a brother, sister, mother, or father after another senseless shooting—in Illinois, Colorado, or anywhere else in the country.
