CLASP Decries Violence Against AAPI Communities

The murder of eight people, including six Asian women, in an Atlanta crime spree last week is the latest in a despicable series of violent and deadly acts against Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.

CLASP abhors racism, bigotry, and violence in any form and recognizes how white supremacy, which is inextricably linked to poverty, is used to suppress Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities. We stand in solidarity with AAPI communities in condemning hate crimes and violence, which have been a constant in this country for centuries.

Passage of Immigration Bills in the House a Win, Senate Must Make Dreams A Reality

Last week, the House passed two historic bills: the American Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6) and Farm Workforce Modernization Act (H.R. 1603). CLASP welcomes passage of these two bills. On March 26, Isha Weerasinghe will speak at The Maternal and Mental Health Forum on a panel titled “What’s Next for Mental Health Policy”. This panel will explore the pre-COVID and current federal maternal health policy landscapes, address the COVID mental health “second” pandemic, and discuss what two states are doing to address maternal mental health.


 

On March 30, Dr. Nia West-Bey will speak at NYATEP (New York’s Workforce Board Association) Youth Practitioner Learning Lab.  She will be sharing CLASP’s #WhyWeCantWait data portrait and recent youth employment data.
