Hello friend
As you probably know, I founded NextGen America to lead youth voter mobilization efforts around the country. That’s why I wanted to take a minute to introduce you to its new executive director: Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez.
Cristina has founded and led some of the most creative organizations for young and immigrant workers in the United States. Through her work, she has brought tens of thousands of new voters of color into the political process. After the 2016 election, she founded Jolt, a Texas organization that reached tens of millions of Americans and used innovative strategies to engage young Latino voters.
As a former 2020 U.S. Senate candidate herself, Cristina knows firsthand the importance of young leaders stepping up and challenging the status quo that has failed the younger generations. She understands how to build electoral coalitions and mobilize for our core values at the ballot box.
I’m incredibly excited that Cristina is joining the team where she will be leading our efforts to make sure that the momentum of the past few years — the momentum that won the White House and the Senate — continues.
In 2020, NextGen had to move away from physically organizing on college campuses and become a completely digital program leveraging influencers and social media. By adapting quickly, the organization successfully met young people where they were at and proved that the youth vote is vital to Democratic victories. We’re going to build on the electoral successes of 2020, when young people turned out at historic levels, and continue that in the future.
