John,

As we all reel from the horrific murders of ten people in a Colorado supermarket and eight people at spas in Atlanta, so many Americans are asking, “What can we do?”

They know that we need to take action now to prevent future gun violence and deaths.

As a former federal law enforcement officer who carried a firearm each day, Abigail knows the responsibility that gun ownership brings. She first entered political advocacy as a volunteer with Moms Demand Action, and since being elected, she has supported numerous efforts to curb gun violence.

In fact, earlier this month, Abigail joined her colleagues in the House to pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act.

This bill would close the glaring loophole in our background check system that allows dangerous criminals- even suspected terrorists- to purchase guns through non-federally licensed points of sale and avoid a background check.

This legislation is now headed to the Senate. Will you take a moment now to add your voice to call on the Senate to pass this bill?

We know that background checks save lives. Studies show that background checks reduce domestic violence deaths, law enforcement deaths, and gun homicides across the board. We hope you’ll support Abigail as she works to pass this important legislation.

Thank you,
Team Spanberger
