Friends,
Two weeks ago today, the House passed universal background checks with bipartisan support.
And in those two weeks, tragedy has captured the national attention not once, but twice. 8 people were killed—six of them Asian women—in attacks last week in the Atlanta area. Then just 6 days later, 10 people were shot and killed, including a police officer, in a horrific mass shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado.
One thing is clear: We can’t afford to wait another day for tragedy to strike again. We must take action immediately before more lives are lost.
Soon, the Senate will vote on a bill requiring background checks for gun sales. We are going to fight with all our might to pass that bill. But we cannot do it alone. We need your help to get it done.

In 2019, the House passed universal background checks but they sat on Mitch McConnell’s desk in the Senate, untouched, for two years. Mitch McConnell cared more about pleasing his NRA allies than protecting the American people.
But now, Mitch McConnell is in the minority and we have gun safety majorities in both the House and Senate. So this is the best opportunity we’ve ever had to get this done. And with your help we think we can finally make it happen.
Thank you in advance for chipping in,
Team Giffords
