Launching the Life History Project “Motivated by forces they don’t quite understand, a portion of every salmon generation strays from its home river. I see myself in that.”
Meet Wild Salmon Center Salmon Habitat Specialist Betsy Krier, the star of the debut story in our brand-new Life History Project video series.
Over the next month, the Life History Project shares the stories of three WSC staffers, each pulled by some unseen force—an invisible line, that drew them slowly and steadily to salmon country.
Betsy’s story begins in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and travels a wide arc to Alaska and the Olympic Peninsula. Like many people in the international salmon conservation movement, Betsy works behind the scenes on behalf of coalitions and local partners. But her inner drive is what keeps the conservation engine going around the North Pacific. Betsy's story, and many like it, are what inspire us to soldier on, even when the odds are against us. Watch Betsy's story "Think Like a Fish."
The mission of the Wild Salmon Center is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of wild salmon ecosystems across the Pacific Rim.
