John,
FIRST: The Violence Against Women Act was passed into law in 1994, granting protection and resources for women and victims of violence.
THEN: Despite the House passing another reauthorization in 2019, which Suzan co-sponsored, the bill died on Mitch McConnell's desk, leaving millions of women vulnerable and without access to the resources and help they deserve.
NOW: Led by Democratic women like Suzan, the House just passed another VAWA reauthorization.
NEXT: The Senate must (finally) pass it into law to officially renew VAWA -- and we'd love to see it happen before Women's History Month is over.
If you agree, add your name alongside Suzan's and call on the Senate to reauthorize VAWA immediately >>
VAWA specifically allocated money to victims' services so that survivors of violence can access everything from therapy to safe housing -- but when the Senate failed to reauthorize it in 2019, they cut off resources so many of these women count on.
And in a time when domestic violence incidents are on the rise due to pandemic lockdowns, protecting women and victims of violence has never mattered more.
Too much time has already passed.
Sign on right now and let the Senate know that you support reauthorizing VAWA immediately.
Thank you,
Team DelBene
