John,

Two more mass shootings in less than a week – an act of violence against the Asian American community in Atlanta and a deadly massacre in a Boulder, Colorado, grocery store – and these are just the high-profile gun violence deaths that made national headlines.

Gun violence like this isn't inevitable. It's preventable. In Colorado, the tragedy was more deadly because of the use of an assault weapon, a weapon of war. From Sandy Hook to Parkland to Las Vegas, assault weapons are the weapons of choice for mass shooters – and banning them can help curb the deadly epidemic of gun violence in this country. That's why Brady is calling on Congress again to act now – because this can't wait: Will you sign our petition demanding a ban on assault weapons?

For gun violence survivors like me, it's sickening to watch this happen over and over again. And it's beyond maddening to watch extremist politicians — led by Mitch McConnell and rewarded handsomely by the NRA — do absolutely nothing to stop it.

But I truly believe that's about to change.

President Biden just called on Congress to take tangible action to save lives by banning assault weapons. And with gun safety champions back in the majority in Congress, we have more momentum than we've had in decades to pass life-saving legislation to prevent gun violence.

We're so close, John: One big grassroots push right now could be the difference between signing an assault weapons ban into law or letting it fizzle out. It could even mean preventing the next deadly shooting and saving lives.

That's why we urgently need another 5,000 grassroots advocates to sign on before 11:59 p.m. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to ban assault weapons now!
