Seeing two shootings within a week of each other makes me feel overwhelmed. There is so much evil in the world. But when I begin to feel hopeless, I like to remember this quote:

"It is a duty of charity and of justice of every Christian to take an active concern in trying to improve man's condition in the world. At the very least, this obligation consists in becoming aware of the situation and forming one's own conscience in regards to the problems it offers. One is not expected to solve all the problems of the world; but one should know when one can do something to help alleviate suffering and poverty, and realize when one is implicitly cooperating in evils which prolong or intensify suffering or poverty." - Thomas Merton

Let’s do what we can to bring the light of Christ into the darkness. Even the darkness cannot extinguish a small candle.
