After a long series of challenges from Conservative politicians, the Supreme Court of Canada reaffirmed today that the federal government can continue to ensure that pollution isn’t free, as part of our comprehensive action to fight climate change.

As Jonathan Wilkinson said, today’s decision is “a win for the millions of Canadians who believe we must build a prosperous economy that fights climate change – many of whom participated in the courts’ hearings, such as doctors, economists, cities, labour, Indigenous groups, and young people. It is also a win for the hard-working families who will continue to receive more money in their pockets through the Climate Action Incentive rebate.”


Climate change is real, and climate action is the right thing to do for a healthy environment, for jobs, and for future generations. Only conservative politicians are disputing that, but Canadians know that we are far past the time for denial, division, or delay.

The Liberal government’s Strengthened Climate Plan is moving forward with comprehensive action and investments to protect a clean environment, create good new jobs, and make life more affordable for Canadian families.
