Vanita Gupta’s committee markup is today, and we need to ramp up our
support of her to drown out the right-wing’s bigoted attacks! The
committee markup is a key step in the confirmation process that will allow
her nomination to advance to the Senate floor, which is why taking action
right now is so important!

Throughout her nomination process and her hearing, Gupta has demonstrated
that she is the right leader to serve as associate attorney general.
Gupta’s record as a civil rights leader and attorney is the strongest
we’ve ever seen at the Department of Justice, at any level. But like her
last hearing, Republicans like Ted Cruz, whose attacks on Gupta at her
first hearing were particularly appalling, will inevitably use every ploy
they can think of to discredit her while she isn’t even in the room to
defend herself.

It’s clear they’re getting desperate: support for Gupta’s nomination is
growing by the day.

We need to keep the drumbeat of support going for Gupta until she is
officially confirmed by a Senate vote. The bigotry underlining right-wing
opposition to her nomination is pervasive, is all too clear, and will
continue – so we must drown it out.
