[1]Women's March
John,
In just a few hours, the CEOs of Facebook, Twitter, and Google will
testify before Congress. They're supposed to be reporting back on the
actions they've taken to curb the spread of disinformation, hate speech,
and extremist content on their platforms.
Before they testify, will you sign a letter to your members of Congress
asking them to hold Big Tech accountable and end their hate-for-profit
business model? Disinformation over social media is a huge issue plaguing
nearly every part of our society, [ [link removed] ]so please take a minute to submit a
letter right now.
Social media and tech platforms are vectors for extremism, racism,
misogyny, lies, and violence. We saw the deadly consequences of this on
January 6 after Trump and his seditionist allies incited a riot, using
social media to fan the flames.
Self-regulation has not worked. It's past time for policymakers in
Washington to confront the hate-and-lie-for-profit business model of tech
platforms. Congress must stop allowing these companies to operate
unchecked, so please join Women's March and our Digital Defenders team in
signing a quick letter to your representatives about why we must hold Big
Tech's feet to the fire.
[ [link removed] ]We've pre-drafted a letter for you to sign about why it's so important
to regulate Big Tech and stop disinformation on their platforms. Use this
special link to send that letter to your members of Congress before
today's hearing with the CEOs of Facebook, Twitter, and Google. It only
takes a minute.

We at Women's March are sounding the alarm on this hearing because this is
an issue that's affecting all of us. John,
whether you use these social media
platforms or not, we all deal with the effects of dangerous disinformation
and extremism that breeds on these platforms.
Online hate speech has translated to real-world violence everywhere from
El Paso, Texas to the halls of the U.S. Capitol. Disinformation about the
global pandemic and the COVID vaccine have spread unabated. And both
foreign governments and domestic operatives have used voter-suppression
tactics to stop people of color from voting. It's wrong, and it's time for
solutions.
Women's March has been on the front lines of the fight against
disinformation and hate on social media since 2019 through our Digital
Defenders program. It's one of our oldest and most well-established
programs — and today, we need your help to hold Big Tech accountable for
the role they play in this massive problem for women and our society as a
whole.
[ [link removed] ]Sign a letter to your members of Congress to tell them to demand
accountability and solutions from Big Tech CEOs before today's hearing.
Sending the letter is easy — we've pre-drafted the body of the letter — so
it only takes a moment to add your name and share why this issue is
important to you.
Thank you for mobilizing around this important issue,
Women's March
P.S. The effects of online disinformation, extremism, and misogyny are
hurting women — and in order to stop this, we have to demand Big Tech to
end their hate-for-profit business model once and for all. [ [link removed] ]Take a
minute to sign a letter to your members of Congress before today's
hearing. Every letter makes a direct and important difference.
