John -
Last week, our finance director sent an email asking if you could make a contribution to support 350. Here's the good news:
Since Monica emailed, thousands of supporters have chipped in and we've raised $7,489.97 so far towards scholarships for climate activists and movement leaders around the globe, and our global climate justice work. That is amazing!
But here's the not so good news: We're aiming to provide 470 scholarships for frontline climate organizers leading and participating in the Global Just Recovery Gathering, and we still need another $16,310.03 in order to cover all of the scholarships.
We're counting on a lot of individual contributions today to help close the gap so we can support climate activists in connecting to the Global Just Recovery Gathering, and build a powerful climate movement. That's why I'm asking:
John, I'm sharing these numbers with you directly for two important reasons:
The truth is that most people would have said that bringing tens of thousands of climate activists together — across languages, cultures, and time zones — for a three-day gathering would be impossible. But it was your vision and commitment to our movement that turned this dream into a reality.
Now, I'm asking you to join me in dreaming big again by helping support climate activists in remote areas around the globe so they can participate and lead in the Global Just Recovery Gathering:
Thank you again for all you do, John. I'll keep you posted on our progress toward our goal.
All my best,
Emily Southard
