Our democracy is under attack, and we need representatives who will fight back. President Trump and his cronies like McCaul are pulling out all the stops to protect their corrupt regime. It will take someone who has always stood with the people, not corporate donors and big-monied interests.

I have been fighting for the people my whole career.

I spent seven years in public education working for my students in the classroom and representing my fellow teachers in our union. When my school district attempted to close thirteen neighborhood schools, I helped bring 1,000 people to a school board meeting, pressured state officials to meet with the community, and helped keep most of those schools open.

I spent ten years in civil rights law. As a lawyer, I’ve represented workers with abusive bosses, women who faced discrimination, whistleblowers who faced retaliation. As a city attorney for Austin, I led a statewide fight against Senate Bill 4, a hateful anti-immigrant law.

I ran a people’s campaign. In 2018 we narrowed McCaul’s advantage from 19% to 4%, not with DC consultants and TV ads, but with 1,000 volunteers and a commitment to showing up in every county. We helped protect voting rights for Prairie View A&M students and organized rallies to protest the Family Separation policy.

I am committed to continuing this work in 2020 — but we need your help. We are hiring organizers, funding voter registration campaigns, and spreading the word about a toxic coal plant in Fayette County.
