Even though most state laws punish the victim and buyer equally, prostituted women are arrested far more often than sex buyers. Until recently, the focus has been on arresting the victims rather than their perpetrators. But buyers admit that increased arrests, fines, jail time, and sex offender registries would deter them from purchasing sex. That’s why we developed the “Face the Demand” campaign. This innovative initiative will use proven tactics aimed at reducing the demand of sex buyers. With YOUR help, we will: - Work with law enforcement teams to implement reverse stings and anti-demand strategies like publicizing the identities of convicted sex buyers
- Create public awareness and educate policy makers about the dangers of normalizing sex buying
- Support survivors of sex trafficking and prostitution with exit services as they seek to escape the sex trade
Already we’ve seen success as tactics targeting sex buyer demand, like reverse stings and public awareness, removed Wilkes-Barre, PA, from a domestic trafficking circuit and reduced prostitution by 75%. But we need your support (DOUBLED by the Matching Grant!) to launch this campaign across the country and STOP buyer demand for commercial sex! “For me, being with a prostitute is not a relationship,” a sex buyer callously explained. “It’s like having a cup of coffee. And when you’re done, you throw it out.” Please give now so the Matching Grant can DOUBLE your gift. Together, we will fight to prevent more women and children from being prostituted and trafficked. Thank you for giving generously! | |
