UFCW 400 leader joins call for action after Colorado shooting

Noting that "32 of our UFCW brothers and sisters work at the King Soopers [link removed] where the shooting took place," UFCW 400 president Mark Federici on Tuesdayhttp://www.ufcw400.org/2021/03/23/statement-on-colorado-king-soopers-shooting-from-ufcw-local-400-president-mark-federici/ mourned the loss of ten lives in Monday's shooting in Colorado. "It's hard to imagine, after spending a year working through a pandemic, fearing for their lives and the lives of their families, that these workers should have to fear for their lives again because of a man with a gun," said Federici. "We join our UFCW brothers and sisters in calling on our employers and government officials to take action to prevent future tragedies like this from endangering even more of our country's brave essential workers."

Today's Labor Quote: Ruth Rubin from her song Ballad of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire*
Then on that fateful day - dear God, most terrible of days!
When that fire broke out, it grew into a mighty blaze.
In that firetrap way up there with but a single door,
So many innocent working girls burned, to live no more!
