Far too often, climate change is ignored until disaster strikes.

When a deadly deep freeze hit my home state of Texas last month and our state’s energy grid failed, millions were left without heat, power, or water. The impact of this storm was catastrophic, and the events served as a chilling reminder that the climate crisis isn’t just a forecast — it’s already here.
Climate and disaster records are being shattered one by one, and the economic and emotional burden that our communities face will only continue to worsen unless we make the changes and investments demanded by the ongoing climate crisis.

President Biden has already issued executive orders to undo the Trump Administration’s attempts to undermine our efforts to curb climate change — but we can’t stop there. We can’t rely on the next generation to fix this. It is OUR responsibility to reverse the effects of climate change, modernize our power grid, and transform our economy into one that fosters green job creation and technological innovation.

While special interests want people to believe that we have to choose between growing our economy and tackling the climate crisis, they’re wrong. We can protect our environment, combat climate change, and lower energy costs — all while incentivizing economic growth and innovation.

We have the blueprint to revitalize our economy and become one of the largest producers of green jobs in the world, we just need the political courage to do it.
