Amid push for climate solutions, CCL volunteers lobby for carbon price

With momentum building in Congress to take action on climate change,
thousands of CCL volunteers are meeting virtually with their
representatives and senators this week to push for carbon pricing to be
among solutions moving forward.

In a press release

about this week's lobbying, CCL Executive Director Mark Reynolds said,
"Our volunteers are raring to go. They're energized by the signals
coming from Congress and the new administration that major climate
policy will happen this year."

A number of groups are posting about their meetings on social media with
the hashtag #GrassrootsClimate, like this tweet

about a meeting with Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL-06, shown above) or this

about a meeting with staffers in the office of Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).

Many volunteers attending these meetings are first-time lobbyists, and
some of our "veterans" offered advice in a blog posted this week. Teresa
Werner in Northern Kentucky said, "You are not alone! Going in as a team
makes such a big difference. I had never before been part of a group
that was so positive, helpful and organized, which gave me comfort going
into my first lobby session."

Grasstops: Pricing Supporters Hall of Fame

There are many big names who share CCL's opinion that pricing carbon is
an essential tool to bring down greenhouse gas emissions. CCL has
assembled a Carbon Pricing Supporters Hall of Fame of prominent
individuals, elected officials, municipalities, elite athletes and
businesses that have expressed support for carbon pricing. Among the
famous names are Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Sen. Mitt Romney,
Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins and many more. Whether you're
trying to influence your member of Congress or enrolling a community
leader to support carbon pricing, this list of supporters will turn
heads.
