Friend,
On Monday, yet another mass shooting took place, in a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. This tragedy took place less than a week after the senseless mass shooting in Atlanta, targeting Asian American women.
Nobody should have to feel like they are putting their lives at risk by going to a grocery store, going to work or school, or anywhere else.
Today, my heart goes out to the victims and their families. But more than that, I promise to take action to prevent future tragedies.
I’m proud to have cosponsored legislation to ban assault weapons like the one used in Boulder. And last week, I joined my colleagues in the House again to pass legislation that would expand background checks, and close dangerous loopholes that allow criminals to get guns. Now, the legislation will go to the Senate.
We passed this legislation before, but it was blocked in the Senate by Mitch McConnell. Now, we have a chance to make Universal Background Checks into law and save lives.
These measures are common sense. Over 90% of Americans, including gun owners, support expanding background checks. It’s long past time for us to pass laws that will keep our families safe.
Friend, will you sign your name and ask the Senate to vote yes to pass lifesaving Universal Background Checks?
