This time next week, the Green Party will start building our action plan for a possible spring election. As you are one of our loyal supporters, I wanted to fill you in on a few of the topics the party will be focusing on:
- Connecting Annamie with Canadians from coast to coast to coast
- Building a strong platform to showcase our progressive policies
- Strengthening our support on the ground
Planning for an election takes a lot of time and resources. You really have to be prepared for anything, and we spend years making sure we have all of the pieces in place to run our strongest campaigns ever.
In a minority government, time is something we don’t have. Prime Minister Trudeau could hit the election button at any moment and we’ll be off to the races.
Heading into these discussions next week, we need to lay it all out on the table. I was speaking with our fundraising department to get a sense of what our current election fund looks like. And with February being such a slow month for us, I’m afraid that our plans might fall short.
They told me we need to raise another $150,000 to be anywhere near our fundraising target for the first quarter. That’s how much we need to build a solid plan to elect more Greens to Parliament.
