[link removed] -- Monday's massacre in Boulder, CO was devastating. My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of the victim's affected by this horrible tragedy -- but thoughts and prayers aren't enough.
What happened in Boulder earlier this week was the seventh mass shooting in the U.S. in the past seven days.
Violence like this must not continue in our country.
Earlier this month my House colleagues and I passed H.R. 8 to require universal background checks and H.R. 1446 to close the "Charleston Loophole." While these two bills won't solve the issue of gun violence in this country, they are a critical first step in this fight.
The Senate has yet to vote on this legislation, and we need as much public support as possible to get these initiatives passed into law. Can we count on you to sign our petition to demand that the Senate pass these important bills?

John: I have fought hard for legislation like this, and ending gun violence in this country will require a comprehensive approach. Now we have the chance to take the first step in enacting meaningful change to save American lives.
Let's honor those lost to senseless gun violence with action, and get these bills signed into law.
Will you add your name to demand that the Senate pass this bipartisan gun reform legislation?
