Dear Friends,
We have some really good events coming up in the coming weeks:
Tuesday, March 30th 1pm ET– NDN Talks Privacy, Other Issues With Rep. Suzan DelBene - NDN is pleased to be hosting Rep. Suzan DelBene (bio) for an in-depth discussion of her important new bill, the Information Transparency and Personal Data Control Act. The bill would create a national data privacy standard to protect our most personal information and bring our laws into the 21st Century. Rep. DelBene will also have time to take questions on other matters in front of Congress (and there are many!). In addition to being the Chair of the New Democrat Coalition, Rep. DelBene is the Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee.
You can register for the discussion by visiting here, and here's a bit more on the bill itself.
Tuesday, April 6th 1pm ET – NDN Talks W/Jessica Brandt about Global Info Battle Over COVID Vaccines - Please join NDN for a conversation with Jessica Brandt of the Alliance for Securing Democracy which she's calling "Harnessing the Truth in Service of a Lie: Russia, China, and Iran's Information Strategies in the Vaccine Contest."
The live, Zoom based event will take place on April 6th at 1pm ET. You can register for the event here, and Jessica's biography and important background readings can be found here. Be sure to read Simon's short piece about the issues we will be discussing in this event and their importance to the great liberal project.
Tue, April 20th 1pm ET – NDN Talks Democracy Journal With Baer and Cherny – We will have more info on this one in the coming days but NDN is pleased to be bringing back two dear friends, Kenneth Baer and Andrei Cherny for a discussion about the significant impact their journal, Democracy, has had on the thinking of the early Biden Administration.
Past Events - In case you missed any of our recent public discussions with elected officials, policy makers, innovators and thought leaders, you can find them all here. Among these talks you can find in depth and timely conversations about the American Rescue Plan with Dr. Rob Shapiro; how to repair our public digital space with Amb. Karen Kornbluh; the Hispanic vote with Obama 2008/2012 strategist Fernand Amandi; the GOP war on voting and whether Dems must reform the filibuster with Ari Berman; how the House is approaching Biden’s first 100 days with Rep. Scott Peters of California; ways to make future Presidents more accountable for their crimes, particularly electoral crimes and other assaults on our democracy, with NBC News analyst Glenn Kirschner; a meditation on Strongmen/authoritarianism
All of these events are free and open to the public. Please invite friends and colleagues – all are welcome.
See you on the 30th!
Sincerely,
Simon, Georgia and the rest of the NDN team
