John,

As our country has begun the process of reopening and the return to "normal" life, the uniquely American tragedy of mass shootings has also returned. In the span of one week, eight people were killed in Georgia -- six of whom were Asian American women -- and ten people were killed in Colorado.

It couldn't be more clear that we need to pass gun safety reform. Roughly 93 percent of Americans support universal background checks, so passing gun reform legislation should be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, the NRA and other interest groups have succeeded in convincing many Senators to vote against these bipartisan reforms until now.

Now that Democrats have a majority, we can change that, but Chris needs your help to show how much support common-sense gun safety reform has. Will you add your name to the growing list of Americans demanding gun safety reform? Join Chris in the fight to stop the gun violence epidemic by signing the petition today.

It's long past time we took meaningful action to stop the crisis of gun violence and mass shootings in this country. Instead of offering "thoughts and prayers" as a response to these frequent tragedies, we must implement common-sense reforms.

That's why Chris supports common-sense gun reform and reintroduced the NICS Denial Notification Act and Background Check Expansion Act earlier this month. These pieces of legislation would enhance background checks, close loopholes, and ensure law enforcement is notified when a person prohibited from owning a weapon tries to buy one.

Will you stand with Chris and demand the Senate pass common-sense gun safety reform?
