Today is Equal Pay Day, and together we’re fighting to close the gender pay gap and bring awareness to the inequities that working women face every day. March 24th is an important day to raise awareness about the pay gap because it is the 83rd day of the year — and that’s how many extra days women still have to work to earn the same amount of money as their male counterparts.
It’s been over fifty years since the Equal Pay Act was signed into law and it’s outrageous that this pay gap still persists. I’m working with congressional colleagues on legislation to end it once and for all.
So please, add your name if you agree it’s long past time we close the gender pay gap.

In 2020, women earned just 81 cents on every dollar earned by men. And we know that stark disparities persist for women of color in the workplace: Black women are paid 59 cents for every dollar a white man earns, while Latinas are paid just 53 cents on the dollar in 2020.
Employers continue to tilt the playing field against women — and women of color in particular — and it’s long past time we address this injustice.
Achieving equal pay for women is a top priority for my Democratic colleagues and me on this Equal Pay Day. We’re rededicating ourselves to ending the gender equity gap.
