Did you know the NRA caused the Boulder shooting?
- 2018: Boulder passes a ban on the sale of the assault weapon used in the shooting.
- March 12, 2021 - An NRA lawsuit throws out the ban.
- March 15, 2021 - NRA gloats publicly.
- March 16, 2021 - Shooter purchases assault weapon in Boulder, CO.
- March 22, 2021 - Shooter murders 10 people in a grocery store with the assault weapon.
President Biden is calling on Congress to immediately pass legislation to ban assault weapons and close background check loopholes, saying "I don't need to wait another minute, let alone an hour, to take common sense steps that will save lives in the future."
But there is only one path forward for gun reform laws -- just like there is only one path forward for a $15 minimum wage, voting rights, and clean-energy jobs.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren: "Week after week, month after month, year after year -- the gun violence doesn't end. And things won't get better until Democrats get rid of the filibuster and finally pass gun safety legislation that a huge majority of Americans support. What are we waiting for – another tragedy?"
Rep. Ayanna Pressley: "The trauma of gun violence in our communities is endless. It's time we abolish the filibuster and pass meaningful gun control legislation—background checks, automatic weapons ban, gun licensing, and so much more. Enough is enough."
