Folks, can I be a little vulnerable with you? 

As I sit down to write this email on Women’s Equal Pay Day, in Women’s History Month, I can’t do so without recognizing the eight people murdered in Atlanta, GA, last week -- especially the women who were killed in an anti-Asian, racist, sexist act of violence while in their places of work. Their names were Soon Chung Park, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Yong Ae Yue, Delaina Ashley Yaun, Xiaojie Tan, Daoyou Feng, and Paul Andre Michels. 

We talk about Women’s Equal Pay Day because it’s a tangible way to see how women are valued -- or devalued -- because of who they are. The fear and hate displayed by the misogynistic violence in Atlanta is the end result of views that devalue women, especially women in non-white communities. 

That’s not the future PeopleGreater is working for -- one where our democracy and economy work for all people. But it’s going to take all of us working together to bring about a truly equitable future for all. 

Here are three quick actions you can take to help us achieve the future we want to see: 

→ Advocate for equal work to finally mean equal pay by telling your members of Congress to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act. 

→ Follow AAPI Women Lead, StopAAPIHate, and the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) on Twitter to stay up-to-date on other ways to be in solidarity with the Asian and Pacific Islander American community during this time.

→ Learn how to fight back against anti-Asian, racist, or xenophobic harassment by signing up to attend a bystander intervention training.
