While Washington State has been a leader in advancing equal rights, right now, LGBTQ+ Americans can still be fired, evicted, or denied public accommodation in the United States of America just because of who they are or who they love. And state legislatures across the country are pushing through dangerous anti-trans legislation to make matters even worse.

This should outrage all of us.

There's something we can do to guarantee equal protection for LGBTQ+ Americans and block future efforts to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community: we can get the Equality Act signed into law.

Derek and his colleagues in the House passed the Equality Act earlier this month to ensure LGBTQ+ Americans are guaranteed equal protection under the law. Now we need the Senate to act. Will you sign Derek's petition to show your support for the Equality Act?

Derek and his colleagues first passed the Equality Act nearly two years ago, but then-Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to bring the bill up for a vote in the Senate. Now that Democrats have a slim majority in the Senate, we have another chance to get this historic legislation passed.

The Equality Act would ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity at the federal level. It would protect LGBTQ+ Americans and prevent discrimination in the workplace, housing, transportation services, schools, and more.
