THE FORUM

MARCH 2021 EDITION

On March 18, the **Farm Workforce Modernization Act**

(FWMA) passed the House and is headed to the Senate next. The bipartisan
bill would create a pathway to legalization for current unauthorized
agricultural workers, modernize the temporary agricultural worker H-2A
visa program and implement the E-Verify system across the agriculture
sector.

Email your Senator and show support for immigrant farmworkers and
America's farmers who have kept us fed during COVID-19.

TAKE ACTION NOW

"The fact that that is happening is really a testament to the show of
force from allies across the range of constituencies that care about
this issue and the community,"

Forum President & CEO Ali Noorani said in a piece for **Bloomberg News**

highlighting our unique advocacy approach on behalf of farmworkers in
partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and United Fresh Produce
Association.

A day in the life of our nation's farmworkers

Our partner Driscoll's, a leading producer of fresh berries in the
Americas, supports the passage of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act
and joined the Forum's March 15th congressional briefing advocating
for the act. Soren Bjorn, President of Driscoll's Americas expressed
concern about the fate of the dwindling U.S. agricultural workforce
saying, "It is very difficult to invest into a business, where you
don't have some degree of certainty about the future."For married
couple Zenaida and Hector, who harvest raspberries on one of the 900
independently owned farms in the Driscoll's network, it's about giving
their children "a better future, to give them a better quality of life."

Great news, bipartisanship isn't dead! Ali spoke with U.S.
representatives Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) and Zoe Lofgren (D-California)
about FWMA during our 2020 Leading the Way convening. Watch this short
recap
to see what these leaders who support the act have to say.
