It was only a couple of weeks ago that I joined my colleagues in the House in passing legislation that would require background checks on all gun sales, helping prevent future gun violence tragedies.

Since then, mass shootings in Atlanta, Georgia and Boulder, Colorado have taken the lives of 18 people.

I’ll be frank -- I’m sad, frustrated, and angry.

How long will it take before we recognize this epidemic for what it is? And how many tragedies will devastate our communities before we take action to prevent these senseless acts of violence?

Inaction is no longer an option.

The Senate must take action on the House’s bipartisan background check bill. Today, I’m asking you to add your name to mine and call on the Senate to pass commonsense gun-safety legislation ASAP. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Dutch
