Dear John,

Thank you to everyone who joined yesterday’s event, Making the Most of the Opportunity: A Federal Funding Forum with 50CAN.

The full video of the event and the presentation slides are now up on our website.
50CAN's Federal Funding Forum
The forum provided the key facts you need to know about the $190 billion in federal funds and shined a spotlight on what three of our local advocates are doing right now to make the most of this opportunity for a better education for all, not just more of the same:
  • HawaiiKidsCAN Executive Director David Miyashiro spoke about the need to be bold, sharing his ideas for eliminating geographic school boundaries, leveraging pods and scaling up personalized tutoring.
  • JerseyCAN Executive Director Patricia Morgan stressed how important it is to be grounded in an understanding of learning losses and outlined plans for summer learning programs, social-emotional learning efforts and one-on-one relationship building with students.
  • NewMexicoKidsCAN Executive Director Amanda Aragon made the case for transparency and empowering parents with information, stressing that it was imperative to know where dollars are going and what results this federal funding will secure.
We hope the forum is helpful as you jumpstart efforts in your own community. Together, we can ensure that this is a transformative moment for American education.

Best,
