Save the Children
Dear
John,We're thinking of
children in conflict this month, as we reflect on ten years since the
beginning of fighting in Syria and Yemen. The children in these
conflicts often bear so much of the burden. You've probably heard
stories of what happens tochildren in war zones. But what
gets overlooked is what these children missbecause of the
conflict.Education, for instance. The ten
years in Syria have robbed countless children of the opportunity for
education. And when the conflict ends, they can't get this time back.
And it's not just missiles that destroy schools – this year, 119
schools in Syria were destroyed by a flood. That's why our team – with the
support of monthly donors – is helping turn empty buses into
mobile schools, so that displaced children can continue to
learn. On the bus (which are painted bright
blue), the children can learn spelling, grammar, math, and much
more. One girl, Aya* told us this: "We're
not scared when we go to the school bus – we're happy! We forgot
about the attacks and shelling. We've been feeling different since we
joined the bus. We learn the alphabet, the numbers and we're really
enjoying it!"Equivalency http%3A%2F%2F%25%25track%25%25%2Fimg2 Though conflict zones are dangerous
places for children to live, the support of monthly donors to Save the
Children helps kids regain a little bit of normal life. To learn more
