My name is Simona Grace, and I am honored to be joining the board at Project ID Action Fund.
As a single mother, I founded Moms in Office in 2018 -- a political organization dedicated to electing more mothers and working to achieve economic justice for all women. Now, I am excited to bring my experience in progressive organizing to help get IDs in the hands of the 21 million Americans who don’t have them with Project ID Action Fund.
Over 93% of low wage workers in our country do not have any access to paid leave and about 32 million workers do not get paid sick leave. Women are overrepresented in low wage jobs and many of them have caregiving responsibilities. Taking a day off to vote, to get an ID or to take a sick child to the doctor could cost women their jobs.
