UNKOCH NEWS ALERT!

Despite the insurrection that happened in DC and across the US, the Koch network has refused to withdraw funding from the GOP politicians who sought to overturn election results. As one of the leading GOP donors, Koch Industries has the opportunity to take a stand and make real, tangible change. Instead, they will continue what they've been doing for the past 50 years: funding lawmakers that will tow the corporate-friendly line and maintain profits over people.

Have You Signed Our Open Letter to George Washington University Leadership Demanding They Take Action With the Regulatory Studies Center?

This summer, George Washington University pledged to divest from fossil fuels by 2030, thanks to student agitation! So why has the university continued to lend its name and credibility to climate deniers and efforts to deregulate the fossil fuel industry by harboring the Koch and ExxonMobil funded Regulatory Studies Center?

The RSC responded to our action, but their statement was riddled with inaccuracies, so we had to take our red pen to it and make sure folks knew the whole story. Check it out here!

In the News

Executive Director, Jasmine Banks, wrote about the two faces of Charles Koch as he attempts to gloss over his damaging past (and present) with a mea culpa publicity tour, but no real tangible change.

"What would be a true change of character would be to call out the politicians, including Trump, who promoted and laid the groundwork for what happened at the Capitol. It would be a true apology to not only condemn these people but pull the money that has supported them and their actions for all of these decades.

But we know that’s not going to happen now, if the last 50+ years are any indication. Charles Koch has a long track record of putting profits over people and, despite his pretty words, his actions haven’t betrayed his past. Who knows, perhaps when he has another new book to sell we’ll see some actual change."

WELCOME CONNOR AND CASSIDY!

We’re excited to welcome back UnKoch My Campus co-founder Connor Gibson as our new Research Lead. Connor will focus on updating previously published research reports and launching new reports that will allow us to build new energy toward our organizing efforts. Connor is a seasoned and brilliant researcher, honing his investigative skills working at Greenpeace. While there, he researched Koch Industries, particularly its support for attacks on climate change science and policy, which led him to campuses financed by Charles Koch. Connor is also a senior contributor to Koch Docs, an investigative research website that compiles documents critical of the political influence and groups associated with the Koch network.

Cassidy Pollard has joined UnKoch as a Student Organizer. Cassidy is a recent graduate of George Mason University's School of Integrative Studies and an alum of TransparentGMU. She remains committed to ousting Koch influence from her alma mater and transforming Mason into a university that works for everyone, not just wealthy donors. Born and raised in Virginia, she continues to hope for and work towards a Commonwealth that prioritizes the 99% rather than corporate forces and the ultra-wealthy. Cassidy will focus on base-building in the Virginia area, with a specific focus on organizing around George Mason University, a hotbed of Koch funding and influence.
