Hi John,

I'm writing with some great news: Last week, the House passed the latest version of the Violence Against Women Act -- and the legislation includes 2 amendments I wrote to ensure that survivors of violence and veterans have access to the legal counsel they need.

But 172 Republicans in the House bowed to NRA lobbyists and anti-transgender propaganda to vote against VAWA, putting women's safety across the country at risk. They argued that this bill is “a ploy by Democrats to erode Second Amendment rights” and pushes “leftist gender ideology” -- and they're willing to let violence against women continue for the sake of these partisan lies.

Not only that, but the latest version of this critical bill died in Mitch McConnell's Senate in 2019, and there's no guarantee we won't see that happen again. If the GOP refuses to compromise, VAWA could be blocked yet again this year -- and in that time, millions of women could see their abusers walk free.

That's why we're polling my most committed supporters so that we can show that this legislation is NOT optional for the American people. We're hoping for 130 responses from our constituents by midnight -- and your voice is crucial to our efforts. Please, tell us:
Are you tired of GOP excuses for not passing VAWA?

Thank you for always being someone I can count on to stand up for what's right.
