Hello,

Yesterday, our nation experienced a horrific tragedy in Boulder. I mourn deeply with the families and friends who lost loved ones in this senseless act of gun violence. The ten lives lost include Officer Eric Talley, who was killed in the line of duty while bravely responding on the scene.

Sadly, Coloradans are all too familiar with this pain. Columbine, Arapahoe, Platte Canyon, Highlands Ranch, Colorado Springs, Aurora – and now Boulder. Enough.

No words can make up for the loss our state has suffered from these awful tragedies, but we can honor those who should still be with us with action. While details of yesterday’s shooting are still emerging, one thing is clear: our nation has a gun violence problem. We must do more to keep weapons from falling into the wrong hands.

As Senator, my promise to you is that I will fight for comprehensive gun safety legislation in Congress, including universal background checks. We need to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people.

My heart is heavy for our Colorado neighbors and for all who have lost a loved one to senseless gun violence. I hear you, I see you, I will fight with you.

With love,

John
