John, with so much news coming out of Washington, we know it can be hard to keep up. But here at Team Hayes, we’ve got you. Here’s what Jahana has been working on for the past month:

Congress passed the American Rescue Plan, providing desperately needed relief to Americans as we continue to navigate our way out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jahana was an integral part of crafting this massive legislation, which includes provisions from her Save Education Jobs Act that will protect funding for low-income school districts and ensure education funding is used responsibly. The $1.9 trillion plan creates a national testing and tracing system that will get vaccines in more arms across the country, provides over 90% of Americans with $1,400 survival payments and expands the Child Tax Credit to lift nearly half of children out of poverty.

The House passed H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021. This long-overdue legislation closes gun purchasing loopholes and will help keep our communities and our families safer.

The House passed H.R. 1, the For The People Act, which seeks to eliminate hurdles to voting, reform the role of money in politics and tighten federal ethics rules. This legislation would help ensure that every person has a vote, and every vote is equal.

The House passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act to provide training for law enforcement while also ensuring transparency and accountability. This bill aims to improve the culture of law enforcement and prioritizes community solutions, putting resources where they are needed most.

Jahana also voted to pass the Pro Act, strengthening the rights of workers to organize and collectively bargain. Union membership has seen a drastic decline in the last few decades, with union membership in Connecticut down as low as 7% in 2020. Unions mean higher wages for all employees, and Jahana is committed to protecting the rights of unions to fight for workers.

And there is so much more… the Violence Against Women Act, the Equal Rights Amendment, the American Dream and Promise Act, the Equality Act, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act – the list goes on and on...

The point is: Jahana remains committed to the issues that matter to all of us and is delivering on her promises. We hope we can count on your support to keep her in Washington. [[link removed]]

Thank you for all you do and for your ongoing support,

– Team Hayes
