Friend,

The Maryland General Assembly will adjourn on April 12th. There are three weeks left of the Maryland legislative session and the MGA has been hard at work since January 13th. Yesterday we passed the “crossover” deadline, which is an important mile marker of the session. (If you’re not familiar with what crossover is, read more about it from my last session insider email here ([link removed]) , and don’t forget that you can sign up for my insider emails by opting in ([link removed]) to my insider email list.)

I wanted to give you all an update about where some of our priority bills stand after crossover, and what we’re focusing on in the final weeks:

* SB414/HB583 ([link removed]) - Climate Solutions Now Act (Passed Senate)

* HB298/SB83 ([link removed]) - Public Service Commission, Climate & Labor (Passed Senate and House)

* SB199/HB114 ([link removed]) - Transit Safety and Investment Act (Passed House and Senate)

* HB1187/SB853 ([link removed]) - Juvenile Justice Reform bill (Passed House)

* SB494/HB409 ([link removed]) - Juvenile Restoration Act (Passed Senate)

* SB9/HB486 ([link removed]) - Higher Education Collective Bargaining (Passed Senate)

* SB486/HB581 ([link removed]) - Maryland Essential Workers’ Protection Act

* HB18/SB154 ([link removed]) , HB1312/SB910 ([link removed]) , HB52/SB454 ([link removed]) Housing Justice Package (Passed House)

* HB463/SB172 ([link removed]) - Health Equity Resource Act (Passed House and Senate)

* HB655 ([link removed]) - District At-Large Voting (Passed House)

* HB155/SB98 ([link removed]) - Inclusive Schools Act (Passed House)

* HB1213 ([link removed]) - Creditworthiness (Passed House)

* HB1210 ([link removed]) - Corporate Board Diversity (Passed House)

* HB1/SB1 ([link removed]) - HBCU funding (Passed House and Senate, sent to Governor)

* HB944/SB711 ([link removed]) - Childcare Pilot Program (Passed House)

* HB907/SB817 ([link removed]) , HB1138/SB818 ([link removed]) , HB1002 ([link removed]) - Unemployment System Reforms (Passed House and Senate)

We’re glad to see so much progress on our priorities, and are going to be pushing hard for all of these bills to pass before the General Assembly adjourns in April. There’s still work to be done before sine die!
