John,

Yesterday, Virginia voters received a false text message from another campaign claiming to support “the only Black candidate” in this race.

As an Afro-Latina, a Black candidate, and the only Black woman in this race, I'm disgusted and disappointed.

All my life I've been told I wasn't enough. Not Black enough. Not Latina enough. Not white enough.

I’m proud to be Black, Lebanese, Irish, Latina and I will not be erased.

I’m not the only person of color who has been counted out, left out, or just outright ignored — many of us have far more than just one of these stories. Diversity is what makes our Commonwealth great, and I'm running for Lt. Governor to represent all Virginians.

I promise to always give a voice to those who have had theirs taken away for far too long. I hope you’ll join me in that commitment.

Thank you,

Hala

As a lifelong Virginian, Hala understands where we’ve come from and embodies the diversity of our future. She’s running for Lt. Governor because she knows we have the power to move forward together, and she knows what it’ll take to get it done. Will you pitch in to join our movement for a brighter future for all?
