Nearly one in five renters are behind on rent payments, and even more people are on the cusp of homelessness.

We are facing a housing crisis like no other if we do not act. While President Biden’s American Rescue Plan extends the federal eviction moratorium, once the moratorium expires, millions of people will owe months of back rent and face housing insecurity.

That’s why I am proud to join my colleagues as a co-sponsor of the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act — a critical package that will forgive debt for millions of renters and homeowners throughout the rest of the pandemic and protect their credit scores.

Congress must act to provide rental and mortgage assistance for struggling families now. Will you add your name as a citizen cosponsor to the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act to keep people in their homes?

We have a responsibility to provide long-term solutions that will help everyone keep a roof over their heads.
