Hi Team, In 2012, my son Jordan was shot and killed by a man who claimed his music was too loud. Following his death, I told myself that I never wanted another family to go through what we went through. I ran for Congress after years of watching our elected leaders fail to act. My family’s story is not unique. Almost 100 Americans are killed by gun violence almost every day. Our community here in Georgia is going through this pain once again this week. I refuse to stand idly by and wait for another person to be lost to senseless and avoidable gun violence. That is why I helped lead the effort to successfully pass legislation in the House to require universal background checks on all gun sales. Now we need the Senate to act.
Despite the fact that over 90% of Americans support universal background checks, the Senate has failed to deliver any gun safety legislation that would make real change to our laws and help end gun violence. Why? Because NRA-funded politicians have been too afraid to stand up to the gun lobby. Enough is enough. With Democrats holding the majority in the House and the Senate, we have a chance to confront the gun violence epidemic by passing common sense gun safety legislation. Are you with us?
