Eleven years ago today, President Barack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law. It was a pitched battle against united Republican opposition, but we did it.
Working to pass the ACA as a member of the leadership in the House of Representatives is one of the most important accomplishments of my time in elected office. Thanks to the ACA, 20 million fewer Americans are uninsured today and no one can be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition.
Despite that fact, we have had to organize to overcome countless Republican attempts to repeal the ACA and strip its protections from millions of Americans.
Eleven years after its passage, we look back at that pivotal vote in 2010 and recommit to the important work ahead.
On this anniversary of the ACA, will you add your name to my petition to show your support for the still unfinished work of providing affordable health care for every American?

The demand for more affordable health care is loud and clear: more than 200,000 Americans signed up for coverage through the ACA in the first two weeks of the special open enrollment period opened by President Biden this year.
We know that in the midst of this devastating pandemic, 31 million Americans were without health insurance — many because they lost their jobs.
We must do better.
The American Rescue Plan includes a significant expansion of the ACA subsidies that will make health care more affordable for so many families. We can further expand coverage by passing a public option, lowering prescription drug costs, and taking other steps to improve quality of care for everyone.
We must keep at it. Will you sign my petition to show you’re standing with me in the struggle to ensure no American will lack access to health care because they can’t afford it?

Thank you for your engagement and commitment to this important work,
