Friend — on this day in 2010, the Affordable Care Act was signed into law.
In the eleven years since, over 400,000 Arizonans have gained health coverage through the ACA. Thanks to the law, 135 million Americans, including 2.8 million Arizonans, are now protected from discrimination based on preexisting health conditions.
Despite the successes of the Affordable Care Act, it’s clear our work is not yet finished. We must do more to bring down costs for seniors, veterans, and middle-class families; we must invest in rural health systems, and make sure Americans in every zip code have access to high-quality care.
This fight has been one of my top priorities since the day I entered Congress.
I’ve led the charge to address the physician and medical provider shortage in rural America by expanding telehealth programs, funding community health centers, and investing in training programs for rural hospitals.
I proudly voted to pass comprehensive legislation to lower prescription drug prices. And just this month, as part of the American Rescue Plan, we delivered powerful new subsidies to cap insurance premiums at 8.5% of Americans’ incomes and dramatically lower insurance costs for millions.
As we celebrate this important milestone, will you stand with me in the fight for world-class, affordable health care for every person in this country? Our race was one of the closest in the country in 2020. I need your help to ensure that I keep fighting for all Arizonans in Congress.
