ProPublica has reported extensively on taxes and the IRS — from how companies like TurboTax, H&R Block and others have worked against making tax preparation easier (and free) to the huge backlog of paperwork at the IRS that is already slowing tax returns.

As the deadline for 2020 tax returns approaches, many Americans are struggling to navigate the filing process. Adding on COVID-19’s economic impact, this year brings new challenges and additional confusion for taxpayers across the country.

This live digital event series will feature local tax experts from GetYourRefund.org, along with David Newville, senior program director, tax benefits at Code for America. They’ll provide both practical information for filing taxes, including, among other tips:

Each event will include a local expert for questions on state-specific tax information, but you don’t have to file taxes in these states to join us! The federal tax information will be applicable to everyone filing taxes this year.
