John,
Yesterday, a gunman shot and killed 10 people in a grocery store in Boulder, CO. Worse, the gunman reportedly used an AR-15 style assault weapon mere days after the NRA helped strike down a ban on AR-15 style assault weapons in the city of Boulder.
This tragedy comes only six days after 8 people were senselessly killed in the Atlanta area – in addition to the thousands of other lives that were claimed by our nation’s gun violence epidemic that didn’t break the news cycle.
John, enough is enough. We must ban these weapons of war.
AR-15 assault weapons are designed for mass destruction — to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. That’s why they are consistently the weapon of choice for mass shooters. It is far past time to ban these weapons of war from our streets, and now, with gun violence prevention champions in the White House and Congress, we have our best chance in decades to pass this critical legislation. And John, inaction will surely claim more lives.
It is unconscionable to sit back and watch more senseless violence unfold in our country, especially when the NRA will continue to put lives at risk. We’re fed up and we must act. We need 10,000 grassroots activists to lift their voices NOW and demand an end to this senseless gun violence. John, will you add your name and urge Congress to finally ban assault weapons? >>
