Hi, it’s Senator Lisa Wellman. March is Women’s History Month, and today, I’m reflecting on the inspiring and history-making women of our Washington State Senate.

I am proud of the progress women have made for Washingtonians — especially the women who lead our senate as chairs of critically important committees. I personally have the honor of serving as the Chair of the Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee, and I am inspired by the work my colleagues and I have accomplished this year: *
We
passed
the
Fair
Start
for
Kids
Act
out
of
the
Senate
—
much
needed
legislation
that
will
increase
the
accessibility
and
affordability
of
childcare.
*
We
prioritized
the
needs
of
our
students
with
large
investments
in
education
wrapped
into
our
state’s
COVID
relief
packages.
*
We
expanded
transportation
for
our
school
districts
so
students
can
get
the
resources
they
need
while
learning
remotely.

These wins are what make this work so meaningful . It’s been truly humbling to take on some of Washington’s biggest challenges this legislative session alongside the women who represent diverse communities across the state.
