Hi there,
Democratic senators are torn over whether or not to abolish the filibuster -- a relic of the Jim Crow South that is actively preventing Democrats from pushing through a powerful progressive agenda.
If we want to pass the critical legislation needed to move forward from the damage of the last four years, we cannot let the filibuster continue. But Democrats haven't taken the step to end the filibuster for good; instead they're talking about keeping the "talking filibuster," which requires Senators to stand on the Senate floor during a filibuster.
While folks say this may decrease the number of filibuster opportunities for Republicans, we know the GOP will stop at NOTHING to hold up our progressive agenda.
We need to make sure that Democrats in the Senate know that amending the filibuster isn't enough -- it's got to go for good. If you agree, share your thoughts on this archaic practice:
Tell us, do you want to see the filibuster in the trash heap of history?
