Dear John,
Today is finally the day! After weeks and weeks of waiting the Climate Bill is finally due to be published this afternoon. I won’t fully believe it until it happens - but we’re expecting to see it at around 3 or 4pm.
The Stop Climate Chaos policy team is on standby to pore over it - the anticipation while we wait is hard to bear! We do expect it to be a lot better than the draft published last year. This is thanks, in no small way, to the actions of people like you.
However, we know that it won’t be perfect and there’s more campaigning to be done! We’re organising a webinar to share our initial reaction to the Climate Bill on Thursday evening. We’d love you to join us, as we discuss this historic piece of legislation and mull over the “what next” question.
So will you come along?
Yes, I’ll register for the webinar on Thursday
The Government is also launching a big public consultation on the concrete actions that must be taken to reduce Ireland’s emissions. The Climate Bill will set climate targets - but figuring out how we actually achieve these is the next big step. The consultation will gather views from the public to help inform this crucial question of how to cut emissions. We’ll also discuss this consultation during Thursday’s webinar.
Will you join us to discuss the Climate Bill and the public consultation?
Yes, I'll register now
The webinar will start at 6pm on Thursday. I hope to see you there - and I hope we’ll have good news to share!
With fingers and toes firmly crossed.
